How would you go about taking apart a vacuum cleaner?

I have this sever OCD problem where I can’t buy anything new to replace something unless that something is broken. And I really need a new vacuum cleaner, but it’s not quite dead. So, i’m wondering if you knew of a way that I could possibly cut a certain cord or do something to the vacuum cleaner to have it suddenly stop working. if i were you, i would turn the vacum over and look for the cable that connects the brush part with the gears. i would cut it or fray it to the point where it would snap when you turn it on.

The best way I know of to disable a vacuum, be it upright or cannister, seeing as how you didn’t care to mention that, is to throw a sock on the floor and vacuum it up. It may just wrap itself around the agitator and burn up the belt, and maybe if you’re lucky, it might also clog the air flow passages and burn up the motor. You could also try vacuuming up a substantial amount of water, or liquid of any kind, milk is good.
