yes. that is why when you vacuum them you are supposed to immediately empty the bag or canister outside.

the really smart ones can…they play dead until you go to bed, then about 3am they slowwwwly crawl into your bed, after reading “Dont get mad,get even”,and then…….you’re toast!….but, smart people put a blow up dummy in the bed and wait in a dark corner right up until they bite, and then beat the hell out of’em with a broom!!!

Ah I do the same thing! I hope they cant escape!!! :X I always put a tissue in the top of the hose to make sure-and there is never anything on the tissue or behind the tissue when I go to use the vacuum again-so I dont think they can-and I have caught some huge ones lol (I’m totally terrified too-more like of all bugs in general-all in the vacuum haha

I work in a vacuum repair/sales shop and in some cases they can get out. Actually, many get ’smushed’ against the brush roll (heck, that things with the nylon bristles is spinning like 10,000 rpms!), more get dead just by the sheer force of being ****** up, thru a hose, into a bag with all the other dirt/dust, and pressed into it.
But there is no way to guarantee that the ones that survive, won’t make their way out that same hose after it is turned off. For the minor cost of a bag, if you are as fearful as you say, replace the bag after you vacuum/suck some spiders or bugs up! It will keep the air flow in the vac moving smoothly, stop that annoying moldy smell caused by an old bag, and most importantly, give you peace of mind.
Hope this helps.
